Our Pastor

The Biography of Reverend Moses Ware

The Rev. Moses Ware was born in Newport News, VA., to the union of Moses & Magnolia Ware.  Rev. Moses Ware serves as Senior Pastor of Greater First Baptist Church of Orlando in Suffolk, Virginia.  He has worked aimlessly to create an atmosphere that promotes holistic communion among the saints of God. It has been with great pride and fervour that the congregation have embraced the church motto ““Being the Church, Not Having Church”.

The church is a missions focused, education-centered, bible and training church, with a family spirit and is engaged in developing its congregation, as a 21st century ministry.  Before accepting the pastorate of Greater First Baptist, Reverend Ware faithfully served Metropolitan Baptist Church in Suffolk, Virginia, in the position of Youth Pastor for over seven years.

He received his primary and secondary education in the Newport News Public System. He holds to his accolades a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Fulfilling a spiritual desire, he matriculated into the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University located in Richmond, Virginia, where he received his Master of Divinity in May 2006.  He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Richmond Virginia Seminary for over three years and holds several memberships within professional organizations.

Rev. Ware pastoral ministry is grounded in a desire to blend the life of the mind with the love of God. His greatest joy in ministry is the unfolding of biblical truth in a way that allows people to meet God in life changing ways. “People are hungry for the experience of God,” he says, “and that happens at Greater First Baptist all the time.”

As a preacher, pastor, and teacher known for building bridges of understanding in both the church and community, he brings to his work a love for people, a passion for preaching, and a commitment to mission. He strongly believes that teaching plus preaching equals healing. He is committed to studying the Word of God, working with the youth, evangelizing the lost, spreading the good news of the gospel through the preached word and administering to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and environmental needs of God’s people.

He enjoys a blessed marriage to Mrs. Dawn Ware, a talented woman in her own right.  They are especially proud of their beloved daughter, Kimaya Mosby.

Like King David, Rev. Ware is truly a man who loves God with all his heart.  He contributes his success to the favor of God on his life and vows to serve God with his whole heart.
